NaPoWriMo 2011
Mar 21st, 2011 by Entropy

Spring is almost sprung - that means one thing: NaPoWriMo!Ah, spring is here (although it’s not quite sprung yet!) which means one thing. It’s nearly that time of year again. NaPoWriMo 2011 is almost upon us. That’s National Poetry Writing Month to those of you who don’t know. And this means that during April we will be writing a poem a day every day for that month. (And unlike NaNoWriMo, where word count is all, quality does count! – well a bit anyway… hehehe!)

Last year we didn’t quite make it the whole thirty days, but I am very pleased with what we did output.

This year however will be different and we will hit the mark with a poem a day – or, who knows, possibly more! – throughout the month.

Get your quills warmed up, collectives. April is nearly here …

Paranormal with more activity
Mar 16th, 2011 by Dusty

Back in 2008 I watched the first Paranormal Activity movie and thought it was the slowest, quietest, most boring movie ever to be released under the ‘horror’ genre. I was almost not going to bother watching its sequel Paranormal Activity 2, but it would have been a big shame if I hadn’t.

Paranormal Activity 2 is out of this world better than the first one. It offers more jumps, more plot and is so cleverly tied with the first that it makes that one seem better than it had before.

I cannot offer much to say on Paranormal Activity 2 because it might spoil the clever plot. To understand what I mean you will have to see the movie for yourself.

When I watched Paranormal Activity 1 there was no sense of suspense or even mild horror, but this movie offers more bumps and jumps than the previous.

One factor in the second movie that made it a lot better was a different writer, different director and better actors (It would appear that Katie Featherston’s acting has improved since the first movie).

This movie was entertaining and more suspenseful than the last and is probably not one to watch on your own.

So, while the last movie scored a very poor 1*, this movie scores a lovely high 4* for quality, intelligent writing and suspense and, because of it’s intricate tying with the first, pushes Paranormal Activity up to 2* with it.
